LG Therma V 16kW **Demo listing**
Last year (2023), I decided to get an air source heat pump installed in my house here in Birmingham. I went for the LG Therma V 16kW model. It wasn’t a snap decision; I did a fair bit of homework before taking the plunge.
The Installation Bit
The guys who came to install it were decent. They knew their stuff and kept me in the loop about what was going on. It took about a week to get everything sorted, which was quicker than I expected. They had to drill some holes and mess around with pipes, but they cleaned up after themselves.
The Radiators
I also had to get three new radiators because the old ones weren’t going to cut it with the new system. That bit was done in a day, and the difference was noticeable right away.
Living with It
It’s been a year now, and the heat pump’s doing its job. The house stays warm, and the hot water’s always ready when I need it. It’s quieter than the old boiler, and I like that I can tweak the settings without having to read a manual every time.
Money Talk
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – the cost. Yeah, it was a bit steep upfront. But I’m seeing the difference in my energy bills, and they’re definitely going down. Plus, there’s the RHI payments which help balance things out.
Some Tips
If you’re thinking about getting one, here’s my advice:
- Make sure your house is well insulated first; it makes a big difference.
- Get a clear quote and timeframe from the installers.
- Check if you’re eligible for any grants or schemes.
- Remember, it’s a long-term investment.
Final Say
All in all, I’m glad I got the heat pump. It’s good for the environment, and it’s saving me money. Can’t complain about that.
